Zombie Panic Source Server Install

Note: This can be done on any machine, but I recommend you go with a hosting provider. Give NFO Servers a try. Also this will only cover downloading and running a basic ZPS Server with no mods/configuration. This is a starting point that can be useful for even troubleshooting.

Requirements:

* SteamCMD Download
* 10GB of Hard Drive Space (more if you want alot of maps/plugins)
* At least 2GB Ram (1GB for the OS, 1GB for the Server)
* A decent Internet Connection.

----

Setup:

1. First we want to to extract the SteamCMD to a directory (ex C:\SteamCMD).

2. Next we wish to run SteamCMD.

3. We wish to login anonymous (some games will require you to log on with a real steam account, but this walkthrough won't cover that). To do this we type login anonymous.

4. Next we want to tell SteamCMD to install our game. (ex. C:\servers\zps) We do this with the force_install_dir command.

5. Next we wish to download the ZPS Server. To get the ID for it we would go to SteamCMD Game ID List and if we went there we would see that the ZPS Server is 17505. So we would go into SteamCMD and do app_update 17505 and hit enter.

6. Now we exit SteamCMD by typing exit and it will shut down.

7. Now we open up a Command Prompt (windows key +r, then type cmd or Start Menu/Command Prompt).

8. Now we go to the directory we downloaded ZPS to by typing cd \, then cd servers, then cd zps.

9. Then we want to run the server by typing, srcds -console -game zps -port 27015 +maxplayers 24 +map zps_cinema -secure

10. If successful you will see the window below. Grats! You have setup your own ZPS server that is stock with no configuration done to it!
